Welcome to the nineteenth issue of CEE News!

“From the first settlers who came to our shores, from the first American Indian families who befriended them, men and women have worked together to build this nation. Too often the women were unsung and sometimes their contributions went unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership, courage, strength and love of the women who built America was as vital as that of the men whose names we know so well.”

Those were the opening words spoken by former President Jimmy Carter on February 28, 1980, when he proclaimed March 2-8 as National Women’s History Week.  In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women’s History Month in perpetuity. A special Presidential Proclamation is issued every year since which honors the extraordinary achievements of American women.

As a female CEO, I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about how my gender is a competitive advantage or disadvantage. I spend my time thinking about how to create quality content that helps leaders turn information into insight. I have that luxury because of the women and men who came before me to elevate the status of women from a voiceless mass to people who are rewarded by hard work and dedication to making dreams come true. None of us achieves success in a vacuum. We all stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us to work hard for the luxuries we enjoy today.
